European Studies
Explore global connections. Shape your perspective. Build your future.
Enhance your degree with a global perspective by exploring the connections between cultures, economies, and politics across borders.
Why Study European Studies?
The European Studies program at SDSU offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary exploration of the ideas and forces shaping one of the world’s most dynamic regions. By integrating perspectives from politics, culture, and society, the program examines key historical and contemporary issues such as European integration, colonialism, the legacy of communism, migration, and questions of identity.
These themes extend beyond Europe, connecting directly to global conversations about borders, race, inequality, and globalization. Through this broad and critical lens, students gain a deeper understanding of both regional diversity and worldwide challenges.
Students also develop essential skills in critical thinking, cultural awareness, and analytical reasoning—preparing them for careers in international relations, law, education, business, journalism, public policy, and beyond.
Why choose SDSU?
Explore major issues—from migration and identity to globalization—through our interdisciplinary program while building critical thinking and analytical skills for global careers.
